Guraidhoo School, one of the oldest schools in the Maldives, was founded during World War II by EDURU DAITHA (MUDINGE MAAMA) and originally named EDURUGE. She managed the school for many years until it was renamed MAKUTABULL NUJOOM in the early 1980s. The current MADHARUSA was established in 1991, reflecting the influence of modern education from both the West and East, with support from the Ministry of Education and the dedicated community of Guraidhoo. Initially, the school offered education up to Grade 7, with students traveling to the capital, Male’, for secondary and higher secondary education. However, in the early 2000s, Guraidhoo School began providing secondary education, allowing students to complete their education locally.
To provide an environment that gives care, support and help for the students and enables, the student to build their knowledge and talent in all the areas from the school environment.
In Guraidhoo School we will work with the help of the citizens and the parents to provide a good and improved education with the Islamic morals. Our main work is to mould a citizen with good and acceptable behaviour and infuse confidence and trusts in themselves in all the responsibilities they under take.
