Mukurimagu School is one of the Government schools in Laamu Atoll. The school’s foundation stone was laid by the then atoll chief Mr. Ismail Rasheed on 14th September 1986.it was established collaboratively by the island community and Maldives Government with the assistance of RED-BANA Maldives. The school was inaugurated by the then atoll chief Mr. Hussain Yoosuf on 28th August 1988.the school commenced service with 55 student, one primary teacher and one untrained teacher. In the past years the island chief had worked as the school head even though he was not appointed by the ministry of education From 1988 to 1st August 2005 the school was owned and run by the island community with the assistance of the government. The school was transformed into a government school on 1st August 2005.

The mission of the school is to provide a pleasant learning environment for pupils to enjoy learning, to enhance their effectiveness in communication and develop in them a sense of creativity and commitment through a balanced education programme which covers moral,spiritual,intellectual physical and social development.
