HA Primary School"" was established and opened in 1978 in a building owned by the citizens of HA. Hoarafushi. It was later renamed Haa Alifu Atoll School and officially inaugurated on July 24, 1979. The foundation for modern education on the island was established following the construction of new facilities with support from the Japanese government, leading to a reopening on March 6, 1984. Primary education began with the formation of grade one on February 22, 1981, and a middle school was added in 1988. Secondary education in the commerce stream started in 1996, followed by the science stream in 2001. Thanks to the dedication of the island’s community, particularly the Parent-Teacher Association, higher secondary education was introduced in 2008.
