Shaviyani Atoll Education Centre was established with full government support and funding. Construction began on November 26, 1980, following approvals from UNICEF liaison officer Richard Braidle and then-education minister Dr. Mohammed Zaahir. The opening ceremony was officiated by Al-Ustaz Abdullah Hameed, the Minister of Provincial Affairs at the time. Initially, the school featured a hallway with four classrooms, a common educational area, an additional classroom, ten restrooms, an office, and the headmaster's residence. The school’s vision is to empower each student to achieve and succeed, while its mission focuses on providing well-rounded learning experiences that foster confident and competent individuals with strong Islamic beliefs, preparing them for success in school, career, and life. The school motto is ""Strive for Educational Excellence."
