Ungoofaaru School has a rich history that dates back to around 1952 when it was known as ""Makuthabuh Naasariyya"" and operated in a building called ""Kaaduge,"" which was used as a storeroom during the Second World War. The school transitioned to a primary school on March 10, 1979. On December 18, 1983, with aid from the American organization IHAP, three classrooms were established at its current location, and the school was renamed Ungoofaaru School. In 1992, the school expanded to include grade 7, and by 2000, it had added grade 8. A library and laboratory services were established in 2004. The first batch of O-Level students graduated in 2003. A library coner and a laboratory was donated by parents in order to support the Olevel students. In 2023, the school introduced higher secondary education, although it was later discontinued. The government officially declared June 24, 1981, as the anniversary of Ungoofaaru School.
