The building was built on the courtyard, north of the present Hakeemuge. The second building used for teaching was the ""People's Store House"" which was located north of the former school (now the social center). The school was officially opened on 11 March 1996 (21 Shawwal 1416 AH) by Dr. Mohammed Lateef. Before 08 March 1967, a school was built in the north side of the Island. This island is well known for its extraordinary mathematical geniuses in ancient times. On 08 March 1967 (and earlier) Formal education was started in this island in a public school. In 2004, grade 8 was established in the school. On 01 August 2005, the school was converted to a government school. In 2006, the school became an O’Level center. The first batch of students completed grade 10 and took the O’Level examination in 2006.
