Kaafu Atoll Education Centre was established on December 11, 1981, by President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, with support from the Japanese government. Initially, it provided education up to Grade 3 and offered special classes for adults at levels 1 and 2. The school added Grade 4 in 1983 and Grade 5 in 1984, with an enrollment of 77 students that year. Middle school education began in 1987, and due to challenges in accessing secondary education, the government designated the school as a secondary institution in 1997, introducing pre-Grade 8 classes. In 2001, Kaafu Atoll Education Centre participated in the London GCE O’Level and Secondary School Education for the first time with 12 students. Over the years, the school has established itself as a leading institution following the Cambridge syllabus in the Maldives, placing a strong emphasis on instructional supervision to enhance teaching and learning.
