School Introduction

Founded in the 1950s in S. Gan, Feydhoo School was built from humble beginnings, with nothing but sticks and stones. The school's aim was to produce an academically equipped generation capable of serving the community. Due to the arrival of the British and the migration of S. Gan residents to S. Feydhoo, the school was later relocated to its current location. Despite major infrastructure modifications, the school's current location was previously occupied by a British-built school that replaced the existing one in S. Gan. Under the leadership of Katheeb Dhonraha, the first school in Feydhoo, Madhrasathul Mazaahira, was established with only three teachers. During its early days, the school offered subjects such as Mathematics, Dheeniyyaath (Religion), and Quran. The late Hussain Manikfaan, Ahmed Zaafira, and Ahmed Manikfaan were the three pioneering teachers who worked at the school during this time period. Over time, the school's name changed for various reasons, despite initially operating under the name Madhrasathul Mazaahira. However, thanks to the efforts of the island's scholars, the school continued to operate under several identities. In 1972, through the initiative taken by the late Mohamed Waheed (Fenfushi, S. Feydhoo), Feydhoo School was registered under the Ministry of Education and designated as an official school on July 18th of that year, under the authority of Mohamed Luthufee (Poolkinaara, S. Feydhoo). The authority of the school was then transferred to the president of the Seenu Atoll committee on June 11, 1974, which was again transferred on June 29, 1980, to the Katheebu of the Feydhoo Office. With this transition, the name of the school was changed from Makthabul Islamee to Feydhoo School, and the responsibility of managing the school was entrusted to Ahmed Fuaad (Orchidmaage, S. Feydhoo). Furthermore, the school's first badge, flag, and uniform were formally launched and implemented after being registered with the Ministry of Education. To ensure the provision of modern education, the Feydhoo office consulted with local businessmen, namely, Ibrahim Latheef (Alivilaage/S. Feydhoo), Moosa Ali (Oakum/S. Feydhoo), Moosa Ahmed (Bright villa/S. Feydhoo), and Hassan Thahhan (Vaaruge/S. Feydhoo), which led to the transfer of authority to the four businessmen with regard to the organization and management of the school on January 15, 1990. The four businessmen took on the responsibility of locating teachers, selecting principals, and raising the necessary funding for the school's operation. As a result of this, the school underwent modernization, including changes to its infrastructure and curriculum. On March 1, 1992, Feydhoo School, which had been a public school for 20 years, became a government institution governed by the Ministry of Education. From that point forward, all the school's staff became government employees, reporting to the Ministry of Education. Despite starting with only three teachers, Feydhoo School has now grown to become a renowned academic institution throughout the entire city of Addu and the Maldives. Despite the hardships, Feydhoo School has demonstrated its success through the unwavering efforts of many people.
