Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu has officially inaugurated the Malé Vocational High School.

The school is designed for students who have completed their secondary education and are interested in pursuing technical and vocational fields.

With its opening, an additional pathway for higher secondary education has been established, creating more opportunities for students who wish to engage in practical and industry-related training.

Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu highlighted that students who complete their studies at the Vocational High School will have the chance to progress to Diploma and Degree-level courses at universities. He also noted that students who wish to enter the workforce immediately after completing their courses will have that option as well.

Classes at the Vocational High School will be conducted in a single session. Following the high school model, the two compulsory HSC subjects Islam and Dhivehi will also be taught.

A key policy of the Ministry is to increase the number of students attaining higher secondary education and to expand opportunities through multiple pathways. In line with this, the newly inaugurated school provides a dedicated pathway for students who wish to pursue vocational studies. Additionally, to broaden access for those choosing the academic track, the eligibility policy has been revised to allow students who pass three subjects to enter higher secondary education.

Efforts are also underway to enhance capacity across schools, including the reopening of CHSE in Malé and the introduction of pilot programs to offer A Level education in selected schools in the atolls.
