Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu attended as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the oratory and debate competitions organized by the Maldives National University Students’ Union (MNUSU) for schools and other educational institutions in Addu City and Fuvahmulah City.

The competitions were held in collaboration with the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Dhivehibahuge Ekedemee, and the Society of Sharia and Law.

The annual competition, organized by MNUSU since 2024, aims to develop students’ public speaking, debating, and oratory skills while fostering confidence and effective communication.

The competition has witnessed significant growth in participation over the years. While 43 students participated in the oratory competition in 2025, this year’s edition saw participation increase to 138 students representing 14 schools across Addu City and Fuvahmulah City.

The closing ceremony was also attended by the Chancellor of the Maldives National University, Dr. Mahmoud Shougee, and State Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development, Mr. Hussain Saeed.
