School Introduction

Baa Atoll School is one of the educational institutions established by the Government of Maldives within the atolls. Originally named ""Baa Atholhu Madharusaa,"" the school first opened its doors at“Faaroshige” on 11th March 1979, inaugurated by President His Excellency Uz. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. In subsequent years, with financial assistance from the Government of Japan, a new school building was constructed. The groundbreaking ceremony for this new facility took place on 3rd April 1985, and it was officially opened on 21st January 1986 by the then-Minister of Education, Uz. Mohamed Zahir Hussain. By 1986, the school had expanded its educational offerings to include up to Grade 5. Over the years, it continued to grow, eventually offering education up to Grade 10, including preparation for O' Level examinations. In 2018, the school further broadened its academic horizons by introducing the BTEC A’ Level, with students successfully sitting for the BTEC A’ Level examinations in 2019. Moreover, in 2018, the school underwent significant changes, including the introduction of a new uniform and school song to mark the commencement of the academic year. Throughout its history, Baa Atoll School has achieved numerous milestones and made substantial contributions to the advancement of education in the region.
