The modules Maldives new education management system will be rolled out later this year, announced Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu during his address marking the start of the 2025 academic year.

The Minister stated that the system is being developed with cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence, aiming to modernize the country's education sector. The initiative is a key component of the "Thaiba" project, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education, Global Partners for Education (GPE), and UNICEF.

Thaiba project is designed to strengthen Maldives education system by making it more inclusive, resilient, and future-ready. It focuses on introducing systematic and sustainable improvements across all levels of education.

The Minister also emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance educational governance. "We are reviewing the structures of the Ministry of Education—including its departments, divisions, and other units—and making the necessary reforms to address implementation challenges and ensure effective policy execution," Dr. Shafeeu said.

These reforms are part of a broader strategy to address existing gaps and prepare the system to meet evolving national and global demands.
