State Minister Dr. Ahmed Mohamed delivered the Maldives’ Country Statement at the 43rd Session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Dr. Ahmed emphasized the Maldives’ commitment to UNESCO’s mission, noting the country’s climate vulnerability and calling for stronger global partnerships and tailored support for Small Island Developing States.
 
He highlighted key national education reforms, including the introduction of multiple learning pathways in higher secondary education to better support diverse learner needs, along with the Government’s continued focus on teacher wellbeing through national programmes supporting mental health, professional development, and workplace wellness.

Dr. Ahmed also shared ongoing efforts to pilot AI-powered adaptive learning tools to enhance personalized education, particularly for students in remote islands, stressing the importance of ethical, inclusive, and equitable use of technology in education. 

He further commended the active role of Maldivian youth in climate advocacy, cultural preservation, and sustainable development, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to empowering young people and strengthening collaboration with UNESCO to advance education, culture, and peace.
