The Edexcel A-Level May/June examination series will be resumed in the Maldives starting this year, following its suspension after 2019.
Statistics from recent years show that due to the discontinuation of this examination series in the Maldives, candidates wishing to sit for the examinations were required to spend an average of over MVR 30,000 on international travel and accommodation alone. To address this issue, arrangements have been made from this year onwards to facilitate candidates who wish to sit Edexcel A-Level subjects as private candidates within the Maldives.
Further details regarding the Edexcel A-Level May/June examination series will be announced by the Department of Public Examinations (DPE) starting from February 4, 2026.
Despite the resumption of the May/June examination series in the Maldives, A-Level examinations for school candidates will continue to be conducted during the October/November session, in line with current practice.
