Three companies have been awarded contracts to complete the unfinished construction works of schools in 18 islands across the Maldives.
The contracts, valued at MVR 114.9 million, were awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Road Development Corporation (RDC), and Fenaka Corporation Limited.
Despite previous disbursements and several announced commencement dates, these projects had remained stalled. The new contracts aim to resume and complete the long-pending works.
Of the 18 projects, MTCC has been awarded 15. The islands where MTCC will carry out work include: HA. Molhadhoo, HDH. Nolhivaram, HDH. Neykurendhoo, SH. Bilehfahi, R. Innamaadhoo, R. Dhuvaafaru, B. Kudarikilu, AA. Mathiveri, TH. Gaadhiffushi, GDH. Vaadhoo, HA. Maarandhoo, K. Gulhi, TH. Madifushi, HDH. Naivaadhoo, and L. Maavah.
RDC has been awarded two projects, located in AA. Maalhos and ADH. Fenfushi. The unfinished construction work of the school in M. Veyvah has been handed over to Fenaka Corporation Limited.
The contracts were signed at a ceremony held today at the Ministry of Education. MTCC was represented by Managing Director (Retired Deputy Commissioner of Police) Ahmed Saudee. Brigadier General (Retd) Ali Zuhair signed on behalf of RDC, while Major (Retd) Mohamed Najjah represented Fenaka Corporation Limited.
