A one-day workshop titled “Skills for Building Emotional Strength” was conducted for the counsellors.
The workshop was organized by the National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH) in collaboration with UNICEF Maldives and was facilitated by experts from NCMH. A total of 25 school counsellors from Malé schools participated in the training.
The sessions aimed to strengthen counsellors’ ability to support adolescents in coping with difficult emotions and improving emotional well-being in school settings. Participants explored the bio-social model, engaged in activities on understanding emotions, emotion regulation skills, and distress tolerance strategies, and practiced approaches to disseminate these skills in classrooms.
The workshop concluded successfully with active participation from all counsellors. The training provided valuable skills to enhance their role in supporting student well-being.
