Today, the first-ever forum aimed at gathering stakeholder perspectives and facilitating discussions on the development of the school activity calendar was launched.
The two-day event, focused on addressing key challenges and concerns, was officially opened by the Minister of Education, Dr. Ismail Shafeeu.
The forum is attended by principals of several schools, sports associations, Islamic Ministry, Cities Ministry, Dhivehi Bahuge Academy, National Center for the Holy Quran, CadetCo, Scout Association and Girl Guide Association.
In his opening address, Minister emphasized that the primary objective of the forum is to develop a sustainable school activity calendar that ensures a balanced approach, avoiding undue burdens on teachers, parents, and, most importantly, students.
“I would like to key points for your discussion,” said the Minister. “Students’ learning should be prioritized, and the well-being of both teachers and students should be considered. Parent community participation should be easy and stress-free, and the geographical dispersion of schools should also be considered.” stated the Minister.
The Minister called on all participants to prioritize students at the heart of every discussion and emphasized the need to ensure that extracurricular activities are arranged in a way that does not disrupt their learning and underscored the importance of placing students' needs and well-being as the highest priority in all decision-making processes.
