The Ministry initiated the first discussion forum with the PTA executive committees of the schools in Male' city tonight.
The forum, held at Imaduddin School, was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Education, Dr. Ismail Shafeeu. This important meeting was attended by State Ministers, senior officials of the Ministry, as well as school principals and parents.
During the forum, the Minister shared information about important work being carried out by the Ministry. This includes:
1. Prioritizing students' interests in formulating educational policies.
2. Shaping policies to ensure no student is left out of the education system to safeguard students' futures.
3. Facilitating progress in areas of students' interests.
Additionally, the Minister noted that while there have been expenditures on the formal education system in recent years, it is anticipated that spending on the education sector will increase in the future.
The Minister stated that while "One Island, One School" has been established in many islands in the Maldives, he believes that the relationship between parents, schools, and the community needs to be further strengthened. The Minister further highlighted that the geographical dispersion of the Maldives is one of the biggest challenges facing the country's education system. He also noted that there are many diverse challenges even in the "Greater Male'" area where most students are receiving education.
Parents thanked the Minister for organizing this forum. They also shared ideas and suggestions related to Ministry policies with the Minister.
Concluding the forum, the Minister emphasized the importance of working together to reform the Maldivian education system. He also noted the need for cooperation and assistance from all stakeholders. The Minister expressed hope that such forums would be organized in the future as well.
