Speaking at a ceremony held at Addu High School, Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu stated that community support and cooperation are valuable and important factors in a school's success.
The Minister further noted that if literacy, numeracy, and language skills are not adequately developed by the end of Key Stages 1 and 2, O-level results cannot be improved to a desirable level. He also mentioned that it is difficult to improve secondary level results without first improving primary level results.
According to statistics revealed by the Minister, 96 students from Addu City have entered A-levels for this academic year. This is higher than the government school average of 77%. He also noted that this figure stands at 107% in the Male' area, and that the number of students entering A-levels across the country has increased by 33%.
Additionally, in his speech, the Minister made a special appeal to the entire community and students to elevate the dignity and respect for teachers.
