MoE Hosts Children’s Festival to Celebrate Maldives’ Generational Ban on Tobacco

The Ministry of Education organized a special children’s festival to celebrate the “Generational Ban” on tobacco, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to creating a healthier, tobacco-free future. The festival took place at Hulhumalé Central Park in collaboration with Hulhumalé schools.

The vibrant event featured a variety of stalls offering games, interactive activities, and information sessions designed to raise awareness about the generational ban and the dangers of tobacco use. The festival drew a large number of participants, creating a lively and educational atmosphere that was enjoyed by children and families alike.

Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu attended the festival and, in an interview with PSM News, emphasized that the event aimed to raise public awareness about the generational ban. He described it as an important step toward building a generation that is healthy and free from tobacco. The Minister also highlighted that achieving this goal requires the collective effort and commitment of everyone in society.

The festival successfully combined learning with fun, engaging young people and the community in a shared vision for a tobacco-free Maldives.
